Bear Spray Lite Overview and SetupUpdated 22 days ago

The Bear Spray Lite is the streamlined, lightweight evolution of our proven expandable bear spray holster. While maintaining the same trusted functionality as the original, this new design offers a more compact, weight-conscious solution without sacrificing performance.

Like its predecessor, the Bear Spray Lite features a universal MOLLE attachment system, allowing seamless integration with your bino harness, chest rig, or any vertical pack belt. Its expandable design accommodates 8, 10, 12, and 13-ounce bear spray cans, ensuring a secure fit no matter your canister size. Dual bungee retention keeps your spray secure while allowing for quick, one-handed deployment—without needing to remove the canister from the holster.

What sets the Bear Spray Lite apart is its ultra-lightweight, one-piece laser-cut construction. At nearly half the weight of the original, it’s the perfect choice for those looking to shed ounces without compromising accessibility and reliability. Whether mounting it under your harness or along your pack belt, this sleek, low-profile holster is built for the backcountry adventurer who values efficiency.

Bear Spray Lite Setup Instructions

The FHF Gear Bear Spray Lite and Expandable Bear Spray Holster are designed for a secure and customizable fit, ensuring quick access when you need it most. Follow these simple steps to properly fit your bear spray canister and mount the holster to your bino harness or chest rig.

Fitting Your Bear Spray Canister

Our expandable holster accommodates 8-ounce, 10-ounce, and 13-ounce bear spray cans. Here’s how to get the perfect fit:

  1. Unlock the Draw Lock – Before inserting the canister, check the draw lock. If it's in the closed position, press down until you hear a click. This releases the spring tension, allowing it to lock securely.
  2. Insert the Canister – Slide your bear spray canister into the holster.
  3. Secure with Dual Bungees – Separate the upper orange tab so one leg goes behind the safety tab and the other in front. This ensures the safety stays locked until deployment.
  4. Adjust Bungee Tension – Work the tension down through the bungees, forming an "X" in the middle with two outer bungees.
  5. Tighten and Manage Excess Cord – Use the draw lock to tighten the fit. If using a smaller can, tuck or trim the excess cord for a clean finish.

Proper tension ensures the safety stays secure while allowing for rapid deployment when needed. Simply pull back the safety tab and deploy your bear spray in one quick motion.

Mounting the Holster to Your Bino Harness or Chest Rig

The MOLLE attachment system provides a secure, low-profile mount to the bottom of your bino harness or chest rig’s laser-cut panel. Here’s how to attach it:

  1. Position the Holster – The trigger housing of the bear spray can should be oriented to the right of the user.
  2. Weave the MOLLE Strap – Start by threading the MOLLE strip through the first loop on your harness or chest rig.
  3. Skip a Row and Continue Weaving – Skip the first section and go through the second loop on the Bear Spray Holster. Continue weaving back and forth until the holster is secured.
  4. Lock it in Place – Run the MOLLE strap through the final loop and pull it tight until it catches.
  5. Customize the Placement – If needed, adjust the position by skipping rows or shifting the holster for optimal accessibility.

With the Bear Spray Lite or Expandable Bear Spray Holster securely mounted, you'll have quick access to your bear spray without adding unnecessary bulk to your gear.
